SWEDEN

We Made It 🇸🇪

We received the Monitor AudioVisual Award 2025

Thank you for the recognition Monitor Sverige and everyone who voted for us
The beautiful trophy “Impala Vigilante” was designed by Swedish artist Carl J. Alphonce, featuring a crystal sculpture containing a 3D image of a mythical figure with enhanced audiovisual senses, inspired by the impala antelope’s exceptional hearing and vision.
The character symbolises creativity, innovation, and the people working behind the scenes to create unforgettable experiences. A fitting symbol for an award that celebrates those making a difference in the AV and live events industry.

🌿 Spring had not just Sylvia for us as a new WILMAmbassador, but also the band:
Youngblood Brass Band:

Supporting WILM felt like a natural fit for the band, as WILM member Natalie Baker has been an essential part of Youngblood Brass Band for more than a decade, taking on many different roles throughout the years. By becoming ambassadors, the band hopes to support not only Natalie, but also women across the arts and organisations working to increase the visibility of women in live musicSpokesperson for the band, David on the reason for the band to support WILM

Number two from right is Natalie Baker. If you think your artist, company or festival — have what it takes to become a WILM Ambassador? Please get in touch with us here: info@womeninlivemusic.eu

Walk & Talk @ AFAS Live in Amsterdam in association with Backstage Pass.NL

✨It was an absolute pleasure, together with Backstage Pass.NL, to visit the crew behind ‘Dermot Kennedy’ at AFAS Live in Amsterdam last week.
The participants gained an incredible amount from meeting the crew, while the crew themselves got a refreshing break from the routine of tour life.

A huge thank you to Ben, Grace, and the rest of the Dermot Kennedy-team for making this opportunity possible and for welcoming us behind the scenes to visit workstations such as:
° Rigging
° Production Office
° Lighting Dept.
° Backline
° Video Dept.
° Merch
° Scenic
° FOH Audio
° Stagemanagement

👉 Opportunities like these provide invaluable insight into the many career paths available behind the scenes in live music 🔥We welcome any possibilities for a W&T

Back in March in London, UK 🇬🇧

✨ A Week of Celebrating Women In Live Music✨

Day 1 Workshop in Production Management

On the first day of our Week of Celebrating Women In Live Music we had a workshop on Production Management with Alice James (AEG, UK) who took centre stage and explained everything about Technical Production Management, including staging, rigging, sound, lights, and how it all works across individual shows, tours and festivals. Our own Connie moderating the panel of industry experts to talk about everything about the job as a Production Manager: Alice James Steven Down (Only Helix) Samantha Brown (Only Helix) Karima Kingsley (FOH & PM for ‘Wet Legs’) & Chris Parker – our Patchwork-London partner who generously hosted the event:

Day 2 “Celebrating Women In Audio”

🙌 We did Women in Live Audio for the 6th time at Shure UK and what a great day it was!
Shure’s very own “Ouzo” travelled all the way from Germany to talk about RF and guide attendees through a workstation with built-in errors they had to troubleshoot and fix
🌐 Anna Shahin from Audiologic laughed us through an introduction to Dante and the basics of IT — showing exactly why she loves talking about Dante so much
Shure’s Jack Drury then took small groups through Wireless Workbench 7, giving everyone hands-on insight into managing wireless systems
🎧 At the Ensemble workstation, attendees connected an Allen & Heath S5000 dLive with Shure ULXD4D using Dante, WWB7 and the KLANG app for 3D IEM mixing
We also had a brief and inspiring meeting with Patchwork’s director, Chris Parker.
A huge thank you to all the attendees and associates who made the day possible

Day 3 Workshop in Monitor Mixing w/Sigri Hovde (monitor engineer for the Norwegian artist SIGRID)

We loved hearing Sigri (not to confuse with the artist!) share her tips and tricks, as well as giving us insight into her setup on the ALLEN & HEATH dLive CTi1500, including how she uses KLANG:technologies for immersive 3D in-ear mixes
We also got a glimpse of the kind of accessories a monitor engineer sometimes needs — including an in-ear vacuum cleaner!
It was refreshing to hear Sigri remind us that monitor engineers are often 30% audio engineers and 70% audio therapists
Thank you to Patchwork London for hosting the workshop at the beautiful farm
And thanks to A&H, DiGiCo and KLANG:technologies for supporting with gear 💜

Monitor engineer Sigri’s signature is the pink color as a tribute to women in the industry

Day 4 Walk & Talk at the Roundhouse

Our first time at the Roundhouse,(but certainly not the last), meeting both the local crew and the touring crew of Norwegian artist Sigrid 🇳🇴
We had some great conversations about production, technical work and mental health, and were even invited on an exclusive tour up under the iconic round roof (great to see so many future riggers among our members! ⛓️).
It was inspiring to hear Amy from the Roundhouse technical crew speak openly about living with anxiety and not letting fear stand in the way of her career 💪 Sigrid’s long-time monitor engineer, Sigri Hovde (nine years!), also shared how the band and crew fully back her — making it clear she is the single point of contact for communication if people are not behaving professional around Sigri 🤘
