Addressing Women’s Health in Live Events and Touring

Sunday Sept. 7th @ 16.45 in the Lighting & Staging Theatre: Periods, Pain & Production – We are going to talk Women’s Health in live events and touring with professionals from both the live event industry and the health care system

We will address issues like: How to manage menstrual and reproductive health like heavy bleeding, cramps – and not least how to deal with menopause or pregnancy. Are there for instance any supplements or foods that can help sustain energy and immune health during extended tours?
And how about the mental health? What signs to look out for for health conditions that might impact you when working in touring e.g. perimenopause / PMDD / menorrhagia/ pregnancy – How should I approach this with colleagues ? Are there resources or places I can get support from? Should I consider carrying anything or arranging anything in advance?

Our three panelists:
WILM’s own Malle Kaas, Touring Sound Engineer, Nurse Anesthetist and CEO of Women In Live Music
Besides being a sound engineer and leading the daily operation of WILM, Malle also finds time to freelance as a certified nurse anaesthetist around the scandinavian countries. At this panel she’ll be bringing together both sides of her professional life

Jessica Allen from BackUp Tech has worked in concert touring, live events, TV and Theatre for over 25yrs, at manufacturer and rental companies in business development roles, both employed and freelance. Alongside her part-time role at Backup, she works for Christie Lites. She is passionate about supporting the freelance community, especially in regard to mental health and wellbeing
