# 27

Welcome to our 27th Newsletter!

The busy summer season is drawing to a close so let’s take a look at what we’ve been up to since June and what we’ve got planned for the rest of the year!
(P.S! If you happen to be at London PLASA over the next few days, do come and find us at stand A5!)
We truly appreciate our members for taking the time to send us postcards and update us on their activities! 💌 You can send us a postcard via email or you can post it in our private Facebook Group
Our postcard this time comes from Sideways Festival in Helsinki back in June 🇫🇮
Peppi Lotta Arrimo writes:
“Close to half of the main stage crew were non-male this year! 👯‍♀️✨

What we’ve been up to since our last newsletter:

Walk & Talks!

From top left to right: 30 Seconds to Mars in Glasgow, Doja Cat in Amsterdam, The National in Copenhagen and Peggy Gou in London.

Our Walk & Talk events have really taken off this year! 🚀
We’ve had backstage tours with big productions all over Europe including:

Ovo Hydro, Glasgow – June 6th 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 30 Seconds to Mars
Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam – June 19th 🇳🇱 Doja Cat
Wiener Stadthalle, Vienna – June 25th 🇱🇻 The National
Royal Arena, Copenhagen – Aug 6th 🇩🇰 The National
Gunnersbury Park, London – Aug 16th 🇬🇧 Peggy Gou

When we organise our Walk & Talk’s with touring productions, we are hoping to inspire our members to go big. No matter which part of the industry they are interested in, they can learn from those at the top of their game in their respective fields. At the same time it is a great way to learn how all the different departments are connected, and working together as a team.
A HUGE thanks to everybody who helped make these wonderful events happen.

You can read more about WILM’s Walk & Talk’s in TPi Magazine 🗞️
Psst! If you are touring in Europe with a larger production and would like to offer a Walk & Talk, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the WILM team: info@womeninlivemusic.eu

Meet & Greet at Way Out West, Gothenburg – Augustt

WIL, Ayrton and WILM get together in Gothenburg

Last month we were so fortunate to be invited to the Swedish festival Way Out West by Women In Lighting Entertainment to co-host a joint Meet & Greet.
We got to meet Ayrton’s sustainable specialist Muzi Liu, and had an excellent and inspiring talk with Lighting Designer Louisa & Monitor Tech El from the PJ Harvey crew about their career paths and the touring world.
A special Thank you to Linnea Ljungmark from Topstage AB for facilitating the event.

SFX-Pyro Camp with FX Team, Copenhagen – August

All WILM attendees & owner Christian Kitter. FXteam has Scandinavia’s largest store of prop weapons

We were super thrilled to host our first ever four-day SFX and pyro camp last week in Copenhagen with FXteam. During the camp, we got to see the different day-to-day tasks FXteam do with special effects, set carpentry and props in the film industry!
We got to see all of their different props — like the ‘gun room’ above — and an advertisement in the making. Furthermore, we got an introduction to Pyro where everyone was allowed to try it out as well!

Amazing Nanna Brovang has the biggest love for pyro, and shared her passion with the WILM’ers

Our attendees also visited the Royal Opera House and make-up department, where they got to see how they do ‘special effects’ makeup.

Owner Christian Kitter explained what to use and what not to use when building props

Finally, our attendees got to experience Copenhagen a bit with a joint BBQ and a visit to Copenhagen Distillery (as shown below). It was so great to put on such a unique and varied event. Thank you to FXteam for facilitating this amazing workshop!

The WILM’ers got an exclusive ‘backstage tour’ at Copenhagen Distillery
