Panel discussion at Prolight & Sound about diversity in the tech field – organised by WILM, April 3rd
Women in Live Music held a panel discussion during the Prolight + Sound 2019 trade show. The topic for the panel covered diversity in the live music field and featured three distinguished panelists: Karen Anderson (COO and founding member of Rational Acoustics (SMAART)), Dr. Elena Shabalina (d&b audiotechnik R&D) and Sana Romanos (freelance sound engineer from the Middle East).
The panel was moderated by WILM’s own CEO – Malle Kaas.

Spot festival May 2019.
Last August we received a call from the Danish festival, SPOT (25 stages, 300 acts over 3 days). SPOT asked, if WILM would run one of the stages. We immediately said yes to deliver the very first Danish women only crew – and it was a success!
The bands, the local crew and the festival loved it. Funny though was the reaction from a big part of the audience, where many were looking at FOH with an incredulous expression, as if they saw something they couldn’t really believe 🙂

We wish to thank MALighting and Allen&Heath for their support.

Intro to Backline for Girls May 28th
It is very rar to see a female backliner. WILM wants to change this, and arrangered a intro to Backliner in assiociation with 4Sound-Denmark. 13 girls showered up, some Tourmanagers, Musicians who just wanted to get a grip of how to set up backline. Both a couple of the girls expressed that night that it wouldn’t be impossible that they would go down this road. We surely hope to see a couple of them out there on the road one day. Perhaps even for the talented live drummer Sarah Ziebe, who came by to give a small performance.

The Macedonia Meet Up
Our very first event in the Balkans went so well – and we were super excited about this awesome meet up in Skopje this past weekend.
The Balkans is a very overlooked area, when it comes to diversity in the music industry. So it is very much needed that we do some work here!
It was a very excited meet up, put together by our very own Tejka.
Speakers at this event were:
Tejka Vasiljevic – Representative for WILM, and TM, SM, Drum Tech.
Lina Ugrinovska – International booking promoter in Password Production.
Filip Tasevski – Member of the band “The Beginnings” and organizer of the festival “Zemjotres”
Martin Dimitrijev – Light engineer
Nenad Trifunovski – Sound engineer
– Is there a need for WILM in the Balkan?
– Reasons to work in the live music industry – Presenting statistics of how many
women are working in the live music industry on the Balkans
– Sharing experience and opinions about working with women in the live music industry.
– How my job affects my relationships and private life?
A lot of stuff were discussed on this day, and we will soon have a blog ready that resume, how the meet up went.
